Job Overview

We are urgently seeking a skilled Fabricator specializing in Stick Welding to join our dynamic fabrication team. This position involves performing high-quality welding and fabrication tasks on various metal materials, primarily focusing on construction and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in metal fabrication, reading technical drawings, and adhering to safety protocols. Duties

• Perform stick welding (Shielded Metal Arc Welding – SMAW) on diverse metal components following detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
• Fabricate, assemble, and modify metal structures using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment in accordance with project specifications.
• Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine dimensions, welding sequences, and assembly procedures.
• Measure materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication.
• Utilize plasma cutting, pipe threading, machining, and sheet metal fabrication techniques to prepare materials for assembly.
• Maintain adherence to safety protocols at all times while operating welding equipment and power tools.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met while maintaining quality standards aligned with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
• Conduct inspections of welds using calipers and other measuring instruments to verify compliance with specifications.
• Assist in the assembly of fabricated components, ensuring proper fit-up and structural integrity.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the fabrication shop or construction site.

Skills

• Proven experience in construction site environments with a strong understanding of construction processes.
• Proficiency in various welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics accurately.
• Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise fabrication.
• Mechanical knowledge related to metal materials, sheet metal fabrication, pipe threading, machining, and plasma cutting.
• Experience working with construction equipment such as cranes is a plus.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols specific to welding and fabrication environments.
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and other fabrication shop equipment.
• Knowledge of American Welding Society (AWS) standards for quality assurance.
• Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations during fabrication processes.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for precise assembly and fabrication tasks.
• Mechanical fabrication expertise with an emphasis on metal materials used in construction projects.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members across different departments.
