Job Summary
The Business Development Specialist works closely with the executive, administrative and operational leadership within Sanford in a variety of areas. Displays a high level of technical experience in order to successfully develop relationships and sell to a high level audience. This position is responsible for assessing concepts and developing emerging or expanding projects and programs. This position will apply business principles. theories, and concepts to provide innovative solutions to complex problems within a specific area and to identify new opportunities as strategically aligned with the annual enterprise and division strategic plans. Support the creation of novel concepts and manages the development of strategic projects identified. General duties that apply to all areas include ensuring budgets, schedules and performance requirements are met, develop business models and keeping up to date with related industry concepts and trends. Work with executive-level management to design and implement organizational plans and strategies. Will be required to work cross-functionally with leaders within the organization’s executive, research, health delivery, health plan, marketing, and finance teams among others in the development projects to production. Perform as liaison to outside collaborators and internal teams. Responsible to track progress from initiation of project to activation.
May help in community fundraising and community awareness. Providing clerical support functions: including, but not limited to: taking minutes, collect nominees, generating reports and spreadsheets, coordinating and scheduling meetings/events, distribution of prizes, and notifying winners. Additional duties include ensuring volunteers remain compliant with our policies and standards through Annual Retraining Education. Facilitate events, and maintains and facilitates communications throughout our organization based on regional location. May contribute and/or hold a position on the advisory board. Adapting and creating new job descriptions for volunteer roles, and then collaborating with medical staff. Create “Letters of Recommendation” for college students, write up quarterly and yearly impact statements (reports sent to site supervisors/ambassadors of hours each site volunteers have contributed, provide data on monetary impact, volunteer statements, acknowledge the impact of workforce development, etc.). For these statements, maintain organized lists of volunteers who have gone on to further med school, graduate school, internships, hired as an employee, etc. Also, manage conflict and act as a liaison between volunteers and staff. This role also, assists with responsibilities of supervising, planning, and directing the scope of the Volunteer Services program to augment the services of the regular staff. Also serves as consultant to other system volunteer programs. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style. Ability to use appropriate reference materials. Must be self-directed with a high level of accountability and minimal supervision. Must be able to multi-task, and function as a resource for employees. Must have a high level of customer service, public relations, training and
problem solving skills. Must be able to utilize all office equipment including personal computer and application software, printer, FAX, copier, multi-line telephone system.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required and field of study can vary depending on area. Degree emphasis can include but is not limited to, Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration or Laboratory Science.
Two years experience in volunteer work, public relations, community service or promotional work. Leadership capabilities and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills. Prefer typing skills at 50 wpm.
Current valid driver s license is required.
