Overview

Are you ready for a next-level challenge? Our client is one of the leading utility companies in the Washington, DC Metro area and is looking for a Senior Category Manager of Materials. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Category Management principles in the areas of materials and fleet in the energy and utilities industry as well as the requisite leadership skills.

Located in Springfield, VA (although work is part-time REMOTE during COVID restrictions,) this is an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door with a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging Supply Chain team that is highly focused on results.

Per our client contract, candidates must be Green Card holders or U.S. Citizens.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements the materials and fleet strategy (short/long) and budget
• Creates and implements multi-year category plans that will meet the Supply Chain Department’s service level goals and corporate profit
• Corporate expert for assigned categories, and awareness of market drivers, supplier base, emerging technologies, regulatory factors, and category spend by supplier
• Manages the Supply Chain process from identification of need through contract completion
• Performs market analysis and financial analysis to determine business risk associated with a supplier or contract
• Achieves the best possible quality, reliability, price, continuity, and delivery while adhering to the department’s budget
• Maintains adequate levels of inventory and leverages demand amongst utilities to further enhance inventory levels

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or related fields
• 5+ years of expertise in Inventory Management
• 2 years’ experience in a leadership position
• Direct and proven experience in Strategic Sourcing, Inventory Management, and strong negotiation skills with proven record of successful supplier relations
• Knowledge of Supply Chain Management best practices and procedures
• Knowledge of external markets and experience developing the necessary strategies to mitigate/ take advantage of conditions that impact cost or sources of supply
• Demonstrated strategic, project management, process improvement, innovation, and team building skills
• Strong knowledge of contract terminology, structure, and risk mitigation principles
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to manage competing priorities
• Demonstrable history of meeting or exceeding targets for savings, risk mitigation and stakeholder approval
• Proven experience in collaboration and team building skills across the enterprise

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility experience
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) or Six Sigma training or certification
