We are seeking an Exercise Specialist to:
Teach exercise principles, respond to any emergent events and tend to the environment of the fitness center.
Perform assessments on new participants taking account of medical history, exercise history, and any basic exercise physiology measurements.
Use data and information to develop safe exercise programs for new and existing participants. Education:Minimum – Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or related field.
Work Experience:Minimum – Experience developing and teaching exercise programming to adults.Preferred – Previous healthcare experience. Computer experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Licenses and Certifications:Minimum – Current CPR/AED certification.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Ability to work with a wide variety of participants and patients (age range 12 – 85+ years)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Physical Requirements: Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule:This is a part-time, 20hours per week position scheduled to work Monday through Thursday between5:45am and9:00 pm. Friday between 5:45 am and 8:00 pm. Also working a weekend shift on a rotation schedule.No holidays are required. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
UW Health Research Park Clinic – on Madisons west side, is an 84,000-square foot facility housing physician and rehabilitation professionals in Cardiology, Integrative Medicine, Orthopedics, Radiology, Spine and Sports Medicine.Our Fitness Center provides a resource for both working with patients while under our care and providing education after discharge.This environment creates many opportunities for face-to-face collaboration in the care of our patients.
