Position overview
In this important and rewarding position you will draw on your knowledge and experience to assist the Heilind Sales Team with technical design and solutions support in the Northeast District. DesYou will work with Heilind existing and potential customers focusing on front-end interconnect designs and integrated solutions potential. You will become an extension of the Heilind Sales Team and a valuable resource at the design or redesign stage for Heilind customers. You will be responsible for understanding the design challenges, working with our key suppliers to identify best options and delivering the solutions proposal with Heilind Sales to the customers. Once business is secured, you will continue to be involved with the customers and our key supplier partners to ensure successful implementation and delivery performance.

A strong predictor of success for a Design and Solution Specialist is the ability to understand our key supplier’s solutions capabilities and match them with the needs of our target customers. Managing the available resources and multiple daily priorities are key for this position. Your success will be largely dependent on the success of the team you are working with and your achievement of performance objectives will reflect this synergy. You are the master solution source; ensuring that you and your partnered Heilind Sales Team are actively earning the trust of customers and positioning Heilind as their first choice when solving design and solutions challenges and ultimately choosing their demand fulfillment partners.
Performance Objectives
Within the first 30 days it’s important that you have a roadmap. Take the initiative to meet with your District and Regional Leadership Team to understand the Company vision and key Company objectives for the position. With the District Manager, develop your initial strategic roadmap identifying key activities, milestones and progress towards executing on your plan. Meet with our key Solutions Suppliers to understand their key personnel responsible for the territory covered, main product focus and key factory contacts.
Within the first 60 days, with the Heilind Field Sales team, understand their top customers and priority design and solutions targets. Attend a minimum of 4 Product Trainings focused Design and Solution Selling.
Within the first 90 days, gain an understanding of the Heilind Sales Funnel Tool and Design Reports. Utilize these tools to measure and monitor your progress towards documented objective goals. Develop solid working relationships with all internal key support personnel. Participate in Heilind and key supplier opportunity review meetings.
Within the first 180 days, the Sales Funnel should begin to have many opportunities and you should be well on your way to creating new revenue as a result of the collaboration with the District Sales Team. With your comprehensive understanding of our key supplier’s solutions capabilities, you will be a valued training resource for the Heilind sales team enabling them to be more proficient at initial solutions qualification.
At your one year point, the opportunity pipeline will be significant to drive revenue to goal for the following year. Your activities will center around closing the open opportunities while continuing to funnel new opportunities into the pipeline. Specific revenue and profit objectives will be set for year 2.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
A Design and Solutions Specialist (DSS) for Heilind requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent in experience) and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a technical sales or support role. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to effectively plan organize and coordinate multiple activities are essential along with advanced knowledge of sales strategy and a solid grasp of “Distribution Economics”. Past relationships with Heilind key suppliers and key customers in the territory is a plus. In addition, an ability to work with many different sales reps in a collaborative role will be required.
Expected travel within a defined territory will be about 50%+.
