Patrol roads and trails, to ensure that use is in accordance with recreation plans and regulations. Inspect recreation areas, areas of concentrated public use, and special use permits for compliance with the permit and management plans, public health regulations, and safety plans. Implement annual work plans for management unit. Assist with development of long-range plans for managing recreation resources within developed and dispersed recreation sites. Prepare detailed project work plans and schedules, including required personnel, equipment, and supplies. Maintain recreation sites and facilities. Performs supervisory duties. Work requires walking/climbing in steep, uneven terrain, exposure to adverse weather and insects, physical labor, bending, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds or more. Regular, recurring field inspections include hiking, using horses, and camping. Work is performed outdoors with exposure to extreme temperature and weather (rain, snow, dust, wind). Areas vary from developed to dispersed sites. Terrain may be steep, uneven, rocky, and covered with thick/tangled vegetation. To be qualified an applicant must demonstrate in their resume they meet at least 2 of the following 5 examples of specialized experience: Maintained recreation facilities;Assisted in the development of long-range plans for managing recreation resources within management developed and dispersed recreation sites on the unit;Served as the point of contact with community organizations and interest groups to generate utilization of forest recreation facilities;Assisted with performing compliance checks and inspections on existing permits under Special Use authorization;Prepared job hazard analysis and conducted safety training on recreation projects.OR one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as forestry, range management, agriculture);OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
