WhoWhatWhy
Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, volunteer work. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment.* This is a work-at-home position and we are hiring in multiple locations.
Do you have experience inspiring health and medicine reporters to produce ground-breaking journalism? Do you regularly identify unexplored and underexplored aspects of the great health issues of our time?
Do you know how to assemble, manage, and motivate a diverse, cutting edge team – to help them report and tell their stories with stylish, compelling writing?
If the answers are yes, then WhoWhatWhy would like to talk with you about joining us as a Health and Medicine Editor. This is a volunteer position waiting to be filled by someone who is passionate about communicating medical and scientific information and breakthroughs and reporting and exposing inequities in the healthcare system.
In this role you will work as a team with other editors to help create and oversee critical coverage of healthcare research and emerging technologies, disease (not COVID), nutrition, mental health, and issues related to patient access and integrity of the health care enterprise.
We are looking for two experienced Health and Medicine Editors – one with broad knowledge and expertise in biomedical science and another with expertise in biomedical journalism. Together, you will collaborate on producing written articles and other presentation formats for WhoWhatWhy online platforms.
We are an up-and-coming, bold, creative, fun, friendly, idealistic, and highly motivated news organization producing eye-opening, honest journalism in the public interest. Our aim is to uncover the stories and angles that the bigger outfits miss or deliberately ignore.
Because we’re straight to the point, we want to make clear that we’re looking for volunteers – skilled volunteers. We’re a nonprofit that isn’t funded by a zillionaire and we do not accept corporate advertising.
If all this resonates with you, and you can commit a minimum of 15 hours a week, working remotely, on your own schedule, with colleagues around the world, we’d like to hear from you.

To Apply
We will not review applications that appear to be mass submissions.
To apply, send your resume and a customized cover letter explaining why you’re a good fit for this position – and demonstrating that you have spent time studying our brand. You should confirm your understanding that this is a volunteer position.
