Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Material & Process (M&P) Engineer- Sustaining serves as the Materials & Process Engineering focal for current production program (Sustaining Business). This includes working with the various functional groups (Engineering team and Operations organization) in support of productivity, cost out and quality improvements.
The Lead M&P Engineer will work in the Materials and Processing Engineering team, on site at Middle River, supporting operations and quality in the composite bonding and assembly work groups. The lead engineer will serve as a project leader and/or provide support for assigned projects from beginning to end. Such projects usually require various types of testing and analysis across a wide range of material characteristics- physical, mechanical, thermal, and/or chemical. This testing and analysis can be performed using full scale and/or reduced scale components as well as with various industry/company standard test coupons/specimens. Lead engineers are also called upon to offer direct support of production both on-site and off-site in support of the business supply chain.
The Lead engineer demonstrates an ability work independently (when required), and in collaboration with others, effectively interfacing and integrating their activities within the engineering organization. An ability to establish and manage multiple projects within time constraints is required. The candidate is also responsible for timely identification and communication of project obstacles to engineering technical leads.
