Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS), located in Lanham Maryland, specializes in high performance, high reliability avionics and Space Flight subsystems for Aerospace, Defense, Space, Nuclear Defense and Instrumentation applications. ATS’ space products have supported more than 28 space missions over a period of 25 years. These missions stretch back to Apollo and the beginning of the US Space Program and include a large diversity of civil and military programs, including notable programs like SBIRS, X-37B, Hubble, Orbital Express, Space Station, Shuttle, Mars Lander, Astronaut EMU Suits and 20 other NASA missions including four of their early small satellites. ATS was one of the first organizations in Northrop Grumman to foresee the potential of evolving Small Satellite technologies for application within the military, civil and commercial space markets.
Lead manufacturing engineering organization in the production of high quality spaceflight products.
Manages ATS manufacturing engineering organizational unit, setting & operating to objectives & providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives & company policy. Responsibilities include: planning, risk management, and project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for related Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large technical services-type contracts,
Provide guidance and ensure compliance with processes governing manufacturing engineering and manufacturing development processes.
Serve as the organizational leader and facilitator for program planning, production planning, work order development, automated production execution and quality control measures for production products assembled at the ATS organization.
Mentors and coaches staff.
Collaborate with the team members on business strategy and technology strategy to ensure that ATS capabilities are equivalent or better than industry norms.
Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced manufacturing and other applications.
Works on complex assemblies and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Drive continuous improvement activities and events.
Performs functional allocation to identify required tasks and their interrelationships. Identify resources required for each task
Participate in new business development, proposal development and acquisition.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM discipline with 7 years of space flight manufacturing engineering experience; or 5 years’ space flight engineering experience with a Master’s Degree in STEM.
7 years experience manufacturing of satellite electronic assemblies.
Advanced level of understanding of electronic parts used to build electronics for space flight missions.
Possess requisite knowledge and expertise recognized in the professional community.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Exceptional leadership skills in order to coordinate collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines, along with the ability to effectively motivate people to work as an integrated team across locations, companies and cultures.
Demonstrates strong sense of urgency, ownership and operates in a collaborative manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
10 experience manufacturing of satellite electronic assemblies.
5 years’ experience in supporting program schedules and budgets in the achievement of program requirements.
Experience with Earned Value management system.
Experience in proposal preparation.
Familiarity with Capability Maturity Model Integration.
