Northrop Grumman designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures. The Tactical Space Systems Division has an opening for a Manager, Production Planning Scheduling to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Dulles, VA. Responsibilities:
Manages a team including performance reviews, motivating, guiding and mentoring team members. Ensuring team cross training and development plans are in place along with providing appropriate communication to team members
Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production and Integration and Test (I&T) requirements.
Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.;
Schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
Implements and maintains process improvements by analyzing and establishing best practices for department.
Advises stakeholders of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed
Candidate must have demonstrated ability in working with cross organizational teams and customers; the ability to set and clearly articulate goals/priorities and successfully communicate them to key staff; strong leadership skills; and a track record of building high-performance teams, with a particular focus on employee development, engagement, inclusion, and retention.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree; 4 years additional experience will be considered in lieu of the degree.
5+ years of experience leading people and/or projects
2+ years of direct people leadership experience
8+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Production Planning, Scheduling or Operations Management.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Working knowledge of Cost Point or similar Material Requirements Planning (MRP)/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Manufacturing or Materials/Production/Operations Management
Satellite manufacturing or complex electronic assembly experience.
Experience in aerospace planning or scheduling.
Demonstrated expertise in the following systems and concepts:
MRP/ERP and Master Planning/Scheduling
Cost Point production planning and material management tools
Windchill, TipQA, Cognos, MES, Sync Manufacturing
Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing
Active Top Secret clearance.
