Variety Trials Lab Technician 2 – Part-Time

Variety Trials Lab Technician 2 position will include, but not be limited to, the following accountabilities: Operation of potato lab processing equipment including fryers, peelers, grading line, specific gravity, colorimeter, sugar analysis, and computers Support potato sample processing of fresh and storage fry samples throughout the storage season, fry sample data collection, data entry, and fry sample assessments Support processing, data collection, and data entry of potato trial material both on and off-site including frying, grading, bruising, specific gravity, and assessments Support potato research farm planting and harvest operations including off-site potato trials Support potato storage activities including seed cutting, preparation, and shipping/grading of potatoes Support greenhouse activities Active participation in Safety Programs Requisites: Experience with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word Good communication skills Ability to lift 50 pounds Ability to receive license for PIT/Forklift Operator Attention to detail Work schedule is typically Monday – Friday, 7:00-3:30, part-time hours per week. Occasionally additional hours are required during planting and harvest. Weekend work can be required, but is rare.
