The Corporate Security Department at American Airlines is tasked with securing the company’s team members, customers, and assets from all unlawful interference both in the air and on the ground. The Director, Global Security Operations and Risk oversees three functional groups, each led by a dedicated Manager/Senior Manager: Security Operations, Geopolitical Risk, and International Security.
What you’ll do

• Leads American Airlines 24/7 Security Operations, Geopolitical Risk, and International Security teams.
• Oversees the company’s interactions with all foreign aviation security and intelligence agencies, as well as foreign airline and airport security departments.
• Creates and implements robust plans for both international Corporate Security team members and contracted service providers.
• Assigns roles and responsibilities to relevant security leaders to execute operational oversight, risk and threat management, security vendor support and implementation of integrated organizational plans, policies, procedures, and strategies. Collaborates with Inflight, Flight, Airport Operations, and IOC stakeholders to implement consistent and effective security policies and procedures.
• Oversees and manages the Facility Clearance program for all Department of War classified contracts and cleared team members.
All you’ll need for success
Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
• 7 years of leadership experience in aviation security, compliance, operations, or related field
• Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET level clearance
• Experience in managing a global team and operating within the confines of international regulations
• Experience in risk assessment and mitigation plan development
Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
• Advanced degree preferred
• 7 years of aviation security experience with an international focus
• Understanding of airline reservation and departure control technology platforms
• Established relationships within aviation security community
• Project management experience
• Security program (technical and procedural) development and deployment experience

• Grasp of geopolitics and current and historical threat vectors
• Understanding of emerging technologies and security theories
• Strong knowledge of aviation security regulations and practices, including country specific aviation security regulations and international standards (ICAO and 17)

• Strong business acumen and ability to effectively present and advocate ideas to all levels of the organization, including executive/senior leadership
• Ability to present and explain complex security topics to non-security leadership and adequately convey operational and economic implications

• Ability to build alliances and reach effective solutions across multiple departments and external parties
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate a high degree of initiative
